Brother of dad who vanished a month ago now fears the worst
Barry Corcoran disappeared without a trace after he was last seen at a party near Clondalkin
The brother of a Wicklow man who has now been missing for a month said his fears are growing as each day goes by.
Barry Corcoran (38) disappeared without a trace after he was last seen at a party near Clondalkin on Monday, July 6. He never made it back to his home in Wicklow town, where he shares a house with his brother William.
Now, a month on from the last time he saw Barry, William says the chances of finding him alive are slim.
"It doesn't look good, but I need to know either way what happened to Barry," he told the Herald.
"Not knowing where he is or what has happened is the worst worry.
"My friends and neighbours here are keeping my spirits up, but it's very hard to deal with. The gardai say they have nothing to go on, and there have been no real developments since he was last seen."
William said Barry left his passport and phone at home. "I just feel something is wrong," William said from his home.
"Barry doesn't have any bank accounts that can be checked either, and has no credit or debit cards to use."
He always dealt in cash and lived day to day on his dole, according to William.
"He needs the dole to live, and when he didn't collect it on the Monday after he went missing that's when I thought there was something definitely up," he said.
Barry, a father of a five-year-old girl, travelled to Dublin from Wicklow on Monday, July 6.
"He rang a local girl here in the town before he left for Dublin, and said he would be back the next day - but he never came home," William said.
Barry was recently released from jail, where he served a short sentence.
"It was for drunk and disorderly stuff, public order, nothing too serious," said William. "He's only out since June. I don't think he's in trouble with anyone. He never brought trouble to the door."
Barry is 5'1" tall and is described as being of medium build with short grey hair.
When last seen he was wearing dark jeans, black puma runners and a light blue mac. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wicklow gardai on (0404) 60140.
