Bravery awards for lifeboat trio
THREE lifeboat men who saved a kite-surfer trapped at sea have been honoured for their bravery. Dun Laoghaire Inshore Lifeboat helmsmen Rory Bolton, Dan O'Sullivan and Damien Payne received the RNLI Rescue Award.
The trio rescued the surfer off Sandymount last New Year's Day, battling poor visibility, gale force winds and seas of up to four metres to get to him.
The man was rescued and taken on board the lifeboat before being reunited with his family back at the lifeboat station.
