A two-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital in the capital last night after suffering severe head injuries in a fall in Wexford.

Members of the Air Corps responded to an emergency call out after the young boy was brought to University Hospital Waterford, having fallen from the second floor of a building.

However the child’s injuries were deemed so serious that he had to be airlifted to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin.

A helicopter transported the child from Waterford at 12.01am this morning, arriving in Dublin at 2.45am.

It has not yet been established  how the child managed to fall from the building, and he is still currently being treated at Temple Street.
