The association is a group of over 65s who meet several times a week in Santry Community Centre.
The Active Retirement Association arranges for the members to take part in a number of social activities, including indoor bowls, which the members set up using second-hand equipment.
The association was awarded the grant to replace some of the bowls equipment which had become badly worn out and needed to be upgraded.
The club, like all Active Retirement Clubs, is an important life-line for many older people in the area who are living alone and helps to combat isolation some older people might feel. With their new equipment they hope to set up competitions involving other clubs which will provide a further social outlet for older people in their area and surrounding areas.
