Rock royalty descended on the capital this week as Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds took to the stage at Dublin's 3arena.

The Oasis legend packed the house on Wednesday night, but it wasn't only Britpop fans who were on hand to welcome Gallagher back to his ancestral homeland.

Fellow rock stars Bono, the Edge and their pal Guggi were also spotted among the revellers.

The U2 lads were seen enjoying the gig as Gallagher blasted out new tunes and Oasis classics.

Noel, whose parents were born in Ireland, was spotted out and about in town after the gig with The Edge. The pair were seen at new hotspot Sophie's, located in the swanky Dean Hotel.

The guitarists reportedly spent hours chatting in a private cornered off section of the trendy bar and restaurant.

It was the second night of Gallagher's UK and Ireland tour promoting his second High Flying Birds album Chasing Yesterday.

Miming

The gig follows his controversial appearance on The Saturday Show where some fans criticised the star for miming.

But despite the controversy Bono's best pal Guggi says the show was "fantastic".

"I really enjoyed it. It's the first time that I have seen him since he went solo," he told the Herald.

Fans hoping for an Oasis reunion were left disappointed recently when Noel said it would take "half a billion pounds" before he would consider making up with his brother Liam.
