Bomb disposal team make safe device found in Sallynoggin
An Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Sallynoggin, Dublin late last night.
A suspect device was found on the road outside a private residence in Sallynoggin.
The gardai requested that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team on be employed and cordon was established and surrounding houses were evacuated.
The EOD team arrived on scene at 11.45pm and made the device at the scene. It was then removed to a secure military location for further examination where it was confirmed as viable. The scene was declared safe at 2 am.
Material was handed over to the Gardaí to assist them with their investigation.
There has now been 123 call outs to 32 viable devices so far this year.
In 2014 there was 141 calls outs to 53 viable devices.
