Bill for Cheryl's Wedding hit €600k
It may have been a low key ceremony but it was a high cost marriage.
Cheryl Cole went to great lengths to ensure her wedding plans were kept strictly private, according to her father.
The Girls Aloud singer confirmed online that she had married French entrepreneur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in a small ceremony on a beach in Mustique.
The X Factor judge is now keen to change her surname which she took from her first marriage to footballer Andy Cole.
Cheryl (31) and her beau are said to have spent a massive €600,000 on their wedding plans.
This included the cost of her huge diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding band which are reported to have cost €400,000 alone.
She and her new husband and their four guests all flew to St Lucia first class and took a private jet to the island of Mustique, where they swapped vows.
And her father Garry Tweedy (56) claims very few people close to her knew of the nuptials.
"She has left it for a while before making it public because she just wanted it to be kept completely private," he said.
"I knew about it but Cheryl did that quite deliberately. And it worked."
Her bandmate Nicola Roberts issued a message online yesterday: "For the Versinis, but mostly for her, who is happier than ever. Love."
Cheryl's stepfather Anthony Leighton says everyone is elated. "I am over the moon for her," he said. "It is a right surprise."
The star's mother, Joan, and assistant Lily England were reportedly among the four people present.
