The community of Ballyfermot has rallied together in support of local grandmother Jenny Lynch (72), who was attacked in the area on March 7 when coming home from evening mass.

The Jenny Lynch Support Group has formed and a candlelit vigil was held last Saturday for Ms Lynch. Three men from Ballyfermot were charged with assault causing harm in relation to the incident.

Meanwhile, there have also been a number of break-ins in the Palmerstown and Ballyfermot areas since this month.

A garden shed on Palmerstown Avenue was broken into on Monday night by two men wearing balaclavas and carrying screwdrivers.

Last Tuesday, two burglaries and a car theft occurred in the Woodfarm area and in Palmerstown Manor Estate.

Last month, a Honda motorbike was stolen from McDonald's on the Kylemore Road.
