Army bomb disposal

The army bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion in the city centre at the weekend after a historic viable grenade was discovered in the Phoenix Park.

It is understood that the suspect device was discovered protruding from the grass close to the Magazine Fort by a family on Saturday afternoon.

The Defence Forces deployed the Army Bomb Disposal Team to the scene who carried out a controlled explosion, rendering the item safe shortly after 4pm that evening.
