Caroline McAleer was also fined €100 at Swords District Court for the offence which she pleaded guilty to.

McAleer (25) of Forrest Road in Swords pleaded guilty to driving without insurance on October 19 last year.

The court heard McAleer has 13 previous convictions including two for driving without insurance.

Defence solicitor Fiona D'Arcy handed a letter to Judge John Coughlan from a doctor which outlined McAleer's difficulties.

"She has learnt her lesson and assures the court it won't happen again," said Ms D'Arcy.

Judge Coughlan imposed the six year disqualification and fine but fixed recognisance in the event of an appeal.
