A wet weekend expected as Met Eireann predicts a 'mixed bag'
The summer is over as showers and cooler temperatures descend upon Ireland this weekend.
Dublin was one of the top hotspots in the country yesterday with crowds of sun-starved people flocking to the city’s beaches as temperatures reached as high as 24 degrees.
However, an unsettled morning has dumped showers across the country and Met Eireann are predicting a "mixed bag’’ for the weekend.
Met Eireann forecaster John Eagleton said: “Friday is expected to be nice and dry across Ireland with some sunny spells.”
However, he warns that a wet weekend is predicted with showers spreading from western areas on Friday evening.
The showers is then set to turn heavy in parts of the west and northwest.
“It won’t be an exceptionally wet weekend, there will be sunshine mixed with heavy showers. It’s average weather for this time of year,’’ the forecaster told independent.ie
Saturday is expected to start dry and sunny but showers will become widespread across the country in the afternoon and evening.
More mixed weather is predicted for Sunday with some sunny spells and scattered showers.
Highest temperatures will be 19 to 20 degrees.
Wet periods are expected to continue across the country early into next week.
