A fitting and fond farewell
THE cross section of people who paid a final farewell to Herald scribe George Byrne is a testimony to the esteem in which he was held.
Music stars, DJs, sports presenters, politicians, journalists and a wide host of friends gathered in the sunshine in George's native Liberties yesterday.
President Michael D Higgins was also represented in a fitting farewell.
Tom Dunne, formerly of Something Happens and a friend for 36 years, spoke eloquently for all when he expressed his pride in all facets of George's life.
Our sincerest sympathy to his parents Michael and Kay, sister Andrea, girlfriend Julie, relatives and friends.
