200 of city's neediest enjoy 58th annual Lions event
More than 200 homeless and people in need were treated to a meal at the GPO last night organised by the Dublin Lions Club.
A large number of organisations assisted, including An Garda Siochana, An Post and the Defence Forces.
It is the 58th successive year that the event has taken place, with the Defence Forces providing the food.
Organiser Frank O'Donoghue described the event as "fantastic", while thanking the other organisations who helped make it a great night.
"It's a fantastic night, we've had more than 200 here from around the country," Mr O'Donoghue said.
"It's an annual thing and the 58th time we've done this party. It's for the homeless but it's also for people in need. We've been around the country reaching out to people as well as Dublin.
"We reached out to Brother Kevin Crowley, who was here, and all the other big organisations. We only have a limited number of places because of the size of the hall so we're at capacity, and it really has been a great night."
Guests were treated to a full course meal followed by a choice of Guinness or soft drinks.
