A family of shopkeepers was last night celebrating a 15th major winning lottery ticket sale as speculation mounts over who scooped the €13.7m jackpot ticket.

The lucky €10 "Quick Pick" ticket was sold in Mayo from Belmullet shop Carey's. It is the second major lottery win sold in the store in the past six months after a Euromillion's ticket worth €500,000 was sold last year.

Shop owner Lorraine O'Connor declared her family "the luckiest lottery ticket-selling family in Ireland".

Ms O'Connor's uncle, Tony Carey, runs a store in Lucan and her aunt, Theresa O'Connor, owns a newsagent in Galway.

Between the three of them, they've sold a total of 15 major lottery-winning tickets.

"It's not the first time. We had the Euromillion's one last August, and in 2012 we sold a €350,000-winning ticket," Ms O'Connor said.

"My dad owned the business since 1982 and sold a winning ticket worth half a million pounds in 1987."

There was only one thing on everyone's mind in the seaside town yesterday, with locals visiting the store asking who won.

"We live in a small enough town and everybody knows everybody, so everyone is coming in to us, wishing us well, asking have we heard who the winner is - it's a real community thing," Ms O'Connor said.

"The girls who were working on Saturday are all wondering who it might have been and who sold it."

"It's nuts here, crazy stuff. When the rep called and told me we had the winner and it was a €10 Quick Pick, I told him I had to ring him back because I'd bought a €10 Quick Pick myself," she said.

Local councillor Rose Conway Walsh said that the community is in the dark as to the identity of the winner, but said that it would be brilliant if it was somebody from the area.
