10 still in custody over sectarian murder in Derry

Police in the North have released two of the 12 people arrested in connection with the sectarian murder of Kevin McDaid in Co Derry on Sunday night.

The 49-year-old father-of-four was beaten to death by a gang of Rangers fans following the Scottish club's league victory.

His wife was also beaten by the gang, while another man who was attacked during the incident remains critically ill in hospital.

The assaults were carried out by a large gang of Rangers fans who descended on a Catholic area of Coleraine on Sunday night.

The McDaids say the gang claimed to be UDA members and called residents "fenian bastards".
