DUBLIN Bus is offering its passengers a "recession-busting" deal in the run-up to Christmas.

Customers with prepaid bus tickets will be able to present them at a range of restaurants and retail outlets in the city centre and receive discounts.

The offer is open every Thursday until December 3.

A spokeswoman for Dublin Bus said the company had joined forces with retail, food, leisure and beauty outlets to offer the price reductions.

"If customers present their prepaid ticket, they will get discounts. It's a recession-busting initiative in the run up to Christmas so people can get good bargains," she added.

"It will get people into the city centre, particularly for late-night shopping on a Thursday, and it will encourage people to travel by bus," she added.

Among the retailers who are participating in the promotion are Clerys, Champion Sports and Tower Records, while restaurants like Yamamori, Le Bon Crubeen and Captain America's have also got involved.

Dublin Zoo, Hugo's and Dobbins are on board as well.

The company said: "Dublin Bus has teamed up with a host of great city centre stores, restaurants and venues to bring you even more value from your prepaid ticket.

"Simply present your prepaid ticket at participating outlets on valid Thursdays and you can avail of exclusive discounts and fantastic offers on everything from shopping to eating out, to things to see and do."
