Gang boss sat naked during murder quiz
Friday November 27 2009
A PRISIONER arrested for questioning about three murders stripped naked during his garda interview.
The gangster who was taken from Wheatfield Prison on Wednesday refused to wear clothes in Lucan Garda Station as detectives quizzed him.
He sat naked for several hours as gardai attempted to gather information about the Limerick murders of Shane Geoghegan, Roy Collins and James Cronin.
Officers were left with no option but to continue questioning the naked gang boss and the entire incident was captured on video.
The father was one of two criminals taken from their cells on Wednesday for questioning.
The suspect agreed to put his clothes back on after several hours and both men were later returned to prison.
Gardai confirmed to the Herald that a third man was yesterday arrested in connection with the same murders. The 20-year-old was held in Lucan overnight.
Shane Geoghegan (28) and Roy Collins (35) were both innocent men caught in the crossfire of Limerick's gangland feud.
James Cronin (20) was an associate of the McCarthy/Dundon gang but is believed to have been doubled crossed by his former crime bosses.
Mr Geoghegan was gunned down just yards from his Limerick home last November, when the gunman mistook him for a gangland criminal.
Barry Doyle (23), originally from Portland Row in Dublin, but with an address at Hyde Road in Limerick, was charged in relation to the death.
Roy Collins is believed to have become a gang target because members of his family gave evidence during a murder trial several years ago.
James Dillon (23), of no fixed abode, is accused of his murder.
