Lonely time for holidaymakers

Friends' lack of funds is forcing more people to go on travel-alone 'solidays'.

As many as 15pc of holidaymakers took tours on their own in the past 12 months, a survey by ebookers.com found.

The poll showed that solo trips were growing in popularity because friends and family were finding it difficult to afford travel during the recessions.
