Roz Purcell slams 'small-minded' critics: 'I'm not just a model'
She's gone from strength to strength in her career and Roz Purcell has said she doesn't listen to "small minded" critics who say she's nothing more than a model.
Along with conquering the catwalk, the beauty queen (24) has her own fashion line and a cookbook on the way and Roz insists she doesn't listen to people who just label her as an 'Irish model'.
"I don't really pay attention to anyone who would think that [I'm only a model]. I think I am a bit oblivious to any of that," she said.
"I am at that age where I realise it is probably small mindedness and wouldn't take it personally."
While she's kept busy with numerous side projects, Roz is still one of the country's top models and having worked in the industry since her Miss Universe Ireland win five years ago, she said budding models should not be "consumed" by the glitz and glamour.
"My advice [to young models] would be to be smart and listen to your peers who have been in the industry for a while," she said.
"I think it is important to enjoy the process - modelling can open so many doors and bring lots of travel and opportunity, but at the same time remember not to let it consume you. Always prepare for the next step."
Roz has certainly taken her own advice and now she's eyeing up bringing her culinary skills Stateside to learn from top chefs.
"I would love to go back to New York," she told Image.ie.
