Coleen Rooney says she and husband Wayne still enjoy a weekly date night to keep the spark alive.

The couple, who have known each other since they were 12, wed in 2008

Sometimes absence really does make the heart grow fonder as Coleen says that sometimes their busy schedules mean they're more excited to see one another when they're reunited.

“Wayne has just been away for three weeks, which is a long time,” she said of his pre-season tour.

“But it gives you that excitement of seeing each other at the end of it.

“Sometimes I take the kids away at half term. Obviously we miss each other but it’s nice to have little breaks now and again.”

Coleen is expecting their third child and she's hoping for a little sister for sons Kai (five) and Klay (two).

And she was candid in her discussion around the highs and lows of her seven-year marriage.

“When we had Klay we said we needed to have more time together,” she told The Mirror.

“So we’ll go to the cinema or for a meal – and two years on we’ve stuck to that. It’s nice to have time without the kids.”

“When I had Kai it was a shock,” she admits.

“Before then I enjoyed eight hours’ sleep a night. But I’m more of a morning person now. You learn to cope with just a few hours’ sleep.”
