Holly and rugby star Cian call it quits as they're 'too young' to settle down

Holly Carpenter and rugby star boyfriend Cian Healy felt they were "too young" to settle down, a close pal has revealed.

The model and Leinster star - who have been together for two and a half years - decided it was time to cool things off as they worked out what they wanted in their lives.

Holly has confirmed the pair have split but declined to comment any further.

"Holly's only 22 and she's been with Cian for over two years now. A lot of her friends are single and just having fun, while they're in their 20s and in this serious relationship," a source told the Herald.

"It had just run its course. There's absolutely no hard feelings there."

The break-up came like a bolt from the blue as the couple appeared smitten with each other.

They were spotted hanging out together in St Anne's Park in Clontarf only a few weeks ago as they walked Cian's pug Ted, showing no sign that anything was amiss.

The couple aren't long back from a sun-filled holiday in Gibraltar, where they kept their followers up-to-date with all their antics on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Holly showed Cian (26) exactly what he's missing as she posted a string of stunning pics at a K Club bash.

Looking like she hadn't a care in the world, Holly attended the function over the weekend with Miss Ireland contestant Jayne Higgins, whom she called her "wifey".

Posting a picture in a glittering gold dress, she was all smiles as she enjoyed the night out

She has also booked a holiday to Marbella with two of her best friends as she adjusts to life as a singleton.

Both Holly and Cian recently ruled out making things more serious between them with Holly saying how she would be "like a child bride" if she married now.

Healy was also quick to rubbish suggestions that he had plans to move things up a notch when quizzed about it by Ray D'Arcy during a radio interview.

Asked about a potential engagement, he said: "There's too much of that happening around me."
