Will these face moisturisers combat wrinkles and leave skin soft, hydrated and dewy?
I felt so matte after last week's shine control, I was glad I had been working on these face creams as well! Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise -- it's so important, and can help fend off those tiny lines that eventually will turn into wrinkles.
Moisturisers promote natural hydration. If you've got oily skin, guess what? You still need to moisturise! A good face cream will balance out the excessive oil your face is producing. Face creams are practically magic!
LIZ EARLE Skin Repair Moisturiser, €19 * * *
I wasn't wild about the scent of this one, and it really is troublesome as there's your nose, smack in the middle of your face, and this stuff has to actually go on it and around it. This is a shame, because it feels lovely going on and dries to a lovely soft texture. I'll keep it, but will have to hold my breath.
ESTÉE LAUDER Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Creme, €35 * * * *
Light, yet rich in texture, I think this face cream could fix all manner of ills. It feels luscious going on, smells wonderful (like a flower shop, seriously) and feels rather cool as it sinks into the skin, which I've never experienced before. Absorbs a teeny tiny bit too quickly; a quibble, but it has to be said.
THE BODY SHOP Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream, €12 * * *
Like, totally intense, man. It is very thick, and it smells good, but it seemed too much for everyday. I really liked this one as a kind of masque, and just piled it on and let it sink in. Not very practical for day-to-day, however.
LACURA Aqua Complete With Sea Minerals, €3.49 * *
Oh, dear, this dried almost on contact, and left my face feeling itchy and not very moist. Too bad, as it smells gorgeous and is a pretty blue colour. It didn't suit my skin at all.
DR NICK LOWE The Secret is Out Lifting Cream, €27 * * * * *
I like this one for a face-masque (like The Body Shop cream), but this does the business for daily use as well. It leaves behind the kind of dewiness that you see in magazine ads, and I have to say, my make-up went on like a dream the whole time I used this. Fab!
