Put your best face forward
Dee O'Keeffe seeks out some good buys
Hands up anyone over the age of 29 who has noticed that the bounce back time from a hangover not only takes longer but is more accurately reflected on your face?
Instead of buying lots of tat you don't want or need in the sales this year, why not treat yourself to one of these little beauties that are the Alka-Seltzer of the skincare world.
Clarins' Flash Balm, €35, for morning after (the original, never mind the spin offs); Eight Hour Recovery Cream from Elizabeth Arden, €32, before bed that night and Midnight Secret by Guerlain, €96.50, also bedtime, obviously (this last one is a little bit pricier but worth saving up for).
THERE'S lots of glam party maternity wear out there that will make you and the bump the belle of the ball this Christmas.
Ooh Mama, exclusive to Nelo Maternity, are the proud stockists of the best seller satin tie dress -- heavy duty, jersey fabrics in classic and jewel shades with a satin tie to highlight and flatter.
Pippa O'Connor is pictured here, wearing the cool top version in red plus a very flattering print dress, too.
The collection, plus lots of other labels, are available in their two stores: Clarendon Street, Dublin and Roches Street, Limerick as well as at their online store -- www. nelomaternity.com
I had such fun last week at the Penneys spring 2013 preview -- I kept pointing at clothes squealing 'I used to wear that when I was in school/ college.'
Which means that over the coming months there will be lots of disposable looks for the young and lithe of limb at the store (shorts, skater skirts, cut-out dresses and tops, jogging pants in silky soft materials -- designed to be worn with heels and baseball caps etc).
Those who want more longevity or simply need a more mature approach should keep an eye out for jackets, shift dresses, pretty blouses, detailed skirts and the handbags, and don't discount the jogging pants with heels for work either.
