>Get up 20 minutes earlier than normal. The phone doesn't ring, no one comes looking for you, the children are still asleep and there are no other distractions. If you've a hectic lifestyle, the only real way to create new time is to get up earlier.

>Once a day is great, twice a day is better. Try to hollow out another little piece of time in the afternoon or evening to really get value out of meditation.

>Explain to family what you intend to do and ask them for their co-operation. You don't need much time, but the better you can protect that time, the greater the chances of meditation working its magic.

>Try to find a specific place to meditate. Going back to the same place every day helps develop the routine that meditation depends on. Once you're in your comfortable meditation zone, you can relax and get started.

>Persevere. Siobhan McKenna talks about the 21-day challenge. Get to it at least once a day for 21 days and you'll have a far better chance of seeing the benefits. For meditation to work, it has to be a habit.
