Women want make-up advice. And make-up tips given in a friendly, down-to-earth, no-nonsense manner, have made Lauren Luke the most successful online make-up artist.
The unassuming 27-year-old self-taught make-up artist is beating high fliers such as Jemma Kidd and Alexis Vogel when it comes to the number of women who log on to her website to learn how to make-up their faces.
She films her online tutorials in how to apply make-up in a bedroom in her small flat in South Shields, a coastal town in Tyne and Wear in England, which she shares with her partner Ken (40) and her son Jordan (11).
Filmed like home videos, her tutorials are a massive hit worldwide, and she has 280,000 subscribers in 70 countries. And if you've any doubt that make-up really is a woman's best friend, Lauren is Britain's most viewed YouTube user.
POPULARITY
She has her own website, bylaurenluke.com, yet continues to create make-up demonstrations for her YouTube channel, Panacea81, which has had 56 million views.
Now big money businesses want a slice of Lauren's popularity. Google have made a deal with the young mum for advertising displayed on the bottom of her videos.
Last April, she launched a cosmetics line, By Lauren Luke, stocked by cosmetics chain, Sephora. Amazingly, for a girl who never considered herself clever, she has also created a Nintendo DS Game -- Supermodel Makeover -- and is in talks about a TV show.
The cosmetics-obsessed young mum has also just brought out a book, Looks by Lauren Luke.
