Favourite things: Eurovision star, Sinead Mulvey
Tuesday December 01 2009
1 Sex & the City Boxset I've watched all the episodes, seen the film, and now am eagerly awaiting the sequel next year. I love the way it lets you look into other people's relationships. I can most relate to Carrie, because she's the most normal and down-to-earth out of the lot of them; I just wish I had her wardrobe!
2 Camera Bulky, with a popping lens, this is a photographer's camera. I got it because I love taking pictures and looking back on all the things that I've done.
3 River Island handbag I've a bit of a handbag obsession, having a collection of almost 50 that spans two houses -- mine and my mam's. While I have several designer brands, this sequin shopper from River Island -- the cheapest of them all -- is most definitely my favourite. It's big enough to put everything in to-- phone, make-up, perfume -- which is perfect for when you're going clubbing; and it's white, so goes with every outfit.
4 Necklace A great friend of my nanny's, New York based jeweller, Gerri Rafferty -- who designs for celebs such as Andrea Roche and Cindy Crawford -- made this black stone necklace, especially for me for the Eurovision.
Obviously, it's not something I wear all the time; I save it for extra special occasions, and even then, I'm always afraid I'll lose it. There's only one more like it in the world, and that's in the Waldorf in New York. How special is that?
5 Cinderella Carriage Cinderella is one of my favourite fairytale characters although she's bullied at the beginning, she transforms, and gets her happy ending. So, it's no surprise that the Aer Lingus staff bought me Cinderella's carriage, which will soon be winging its way to my dressing room, when I get to take on the role in panto.
6Pink leggings These made their debut on The Late Late Show, where they were the talk of the town. They're not something I'd ever wear walking down the street but I thought they were perfect for the show. Whenever we have a party, everyone wants to try them on.
7 P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern I have all of Cecelia's books, but I think everyone loves this one. I heard about it from friends and I couldn't put it down because of the letters -- you can't wait to read the next one, and see what happens. I loved the film too.
8 Prada perfume Everyone has their own signature scent, and mine is Prada perfume. Sweet, but strong; when I wear it, it gives me that extra bit of confidence. It completes an outfit, and is the final touch before I leave the house on a night out.
9 Hair Straightener I never leave the house without using my hair straightener. It's not a GHD, but it works straight away, turning my hair from frizzy to sleek.
10Claddagh ring Given to me in Moscow on the day of the Eurovision song contest, this ring is engraved with the words Et Cetera (the name of the Irish Eurosong). I haven't taken it off since; it's a great reminder of a once-in-a-life-time experience that I enjoyed.
Sinead Mulvey plays Cinders in The Cheerios Panto Cinderella, which opens on the December 22 (previews from December 16) at the Tivoli Theatre, Dublin. Call 01 454 4472 or see panto.ie
