Favourite things: Aoibhinn McGinnity

CARD I’m a bit of a hoarder, keeping anything with sentimental value; if it reminds me of friends, then it’s valid junk. This birthday card from a best friend is a new keepsake — the move the women are doing is like something from my yoga class.

HAND CREAM

You can scrimp on some things, but if your skin’s going to benefit, then it’s worth spending that little bit extra. I’ve tried and tested lots of hand creams and this one from L’Occitane is definitely the best — it sinks in instantly, and smells lovely too.

MUM’S PURSE

This is my mum’s; she’s very good at lending me things. However, it’s strictly for nights out only; I don’t want to ruin it, and besides you can’t fit a lot into it — only the bare essentials: lipstick and bank cards.

EAU DE TOILETTE

After reading about it in a magazine, I decided to try Diptyque Vetyverio out for myself. Not too masculine, it’s quite a warm and spicy scent — perfect for winter.

BALLET SHOES

Dance is a huge passion of mine; and something I always come back to whenever I have the time. It’s such an effortless way to keep fit; you don’t realise how hard you’re working out, until the next day when you’re aching.

DRIED ROSES

I love flowers, and these roses look beautiful sitting in the window. Amazingly, they were bought months ago in Coppinger Row Market, but still look great. I didn’t do anything to them – they dried naturally.

EIFFEL TOWER POSTER

Moving house, I wanted to bring something from my last flat with me. And this was it. As soon as I put it up, my new place felt like home. I’ve only ever been to Paris on a school tour, but it’s such a picturesque place, I can’t wait to go back again.

DYLAN THOMAS PHOTO ALBUM

Whenever I’m working away, this is something I always have with me. Jampacked with photos of friends and family, it’s a quick remedy for whenever I’m feeling homesick.

EARPHONES

My regular earphones annoyingly kept falling out of my ears, so I got these in HMV. They’re really comfortable, and since the weather’s started to get colder, I’ve just realised they also act as earmuffs.

BOOTS

After hearing stories about wrong orders or purchases not turning up at all, I’ve been reluctant to shop online. But I’m glad I logged on to buy these boots, my first internet purchase and I got them for half-price. They’re high, they’re comfortable, and they don’t make stupid clickety noises when you walk!

Aoibhinn stars as Erika in Ross O'Carroll-Kelly’s Between Foxrock and a Hard Place, running until November 14 at the Olympia
