Classified Ads

AN OLD-FASHIONED alternative, classifieds are the choice of those who’d consider themselves old-school romantics at heart.

Unlike cyberspace, there’s no place here for saucy names or innuendo-laden descriptions. (So you can forget that Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin movie, Sea of Love where his character hunted down a suspected serial killer via the classifieds).

The world of classifieds is far more straight-forward, where nuggets of information about hobbies and character traits such as GSOH (good sense of humour) prevail. It can be difficult to make your ad stand out due to space constraints and you may struggle to say everything you want. But classifieds are less likely to have as many chancers (or married men) as some internet sites. The Herald runs classified ads several evenings a week.

WHAT TO DO: Be honest and concise. You’re in this to meet someone, so try and give as much information as possible.

WHAT NOT TO DO: Classifieds are not the place to be racy or saucy. Behave yourself.
