Coronas star Graham Knox strikes chord with proposal to girlfriend Aoife
The Coronas bassist Graham Knox struck the right chord when he proposed to his long-term love over the weekend.
The Terenure bassist (30) has been with Aoife McCormick for close to 10 years – and on Saturday he asked her to be his wife.
While the Rathfarnham musician didn’t follow in the footsteps of Jay Boland of Kodaline by getting down on one knee in front of thousands of people while on stage, Aoife (29) told the Herald the proposal was just as special.
“I’m still in shock. It happened at home in private and then we went to celebrate with a few drinks in Sky Garden in London,” said the Knocklyon native.
“One hundred percent, a public proposal wouldn’t be me, so I was delighted.
“I always said I wanted to be surprised, but I didn’t want to be out for dinner or on holidays or anything like that.”
The loved-up pair live in London together, where Graham is based with The Coronas, and have been inseparable since meeting on a night out in Dublin city centre nearly a decade ago.
“We’re together nine years and even though it’s been a long time, he definitely caught me off guard,” Aoife said.
“We met at a club in Dublin almost 10 years ago – I can’t fully remember, but it was somewhere on Camden Street.”
