Business, not showbiz, is my priority now - Sonya Lennon
She's a familiar face on Irish television screens, but Sonya Lennon has revealed she's putting broadcasting on the back burner as her businesses take off.
The former Off The Rails star owns fashion label Lennon Courtney and style website Frock Adviser with her co-presenter pal Brendan Courtney.
She told the Herald that growing their companies is the fashionable pair's number one priority for now.
"Design is what I do. With mine and Brendan's label, Lennon Courtney, and our other business, Frock Adviser, we've been having high growth and they take up most of our time," she said.
"Broadcasting is not at the top of our agenda at the moment."
Along with the day-to-day running of their businesses, Sonya and Brendan's fashion brand is also part of an Irish design exhibition called Second Skin which has been touring Ireland and Britain.
"We need to shout about how amazing the design talent is in this country," she said.
"Along with things like literature and music, we consistently punch above our weight when it comes to design. But we live in a flat world and we need to shout if we want to get recognised."
Sonya has been named as a judge for this year's Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) Awards, and said she's looking forward to having a closer look at the work of some of the country's top designers.
"This is my first time so I'm really looking forward to it. I think any sort of opportunity to look at talent is always fabulous because you get to see how other people's minds work," she said.
Along with juggling work projects, Sonya is doting mum to twins Evie and Finn (10) with her long-term partner David Smith.
While she and the graphic designer have been together 20 years, Sonya previously said they have no great plans to wed.
"For me I just don't see the need for it - we have a home and two kids and are very committed to each other. I don't know what we'd gain from it," she said.
"If I had a big lump of cash, I don't think that's what I would spend it on."
