They call it puppy love

It's 10:15am in St Stephen's Green park and the Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan, is negotiating a pack of dogs, a maze of leads and a cacophony of barks. The owners of the dogs (myself included) stand nervously on the sidelines, each of us praying that our little one doesn't upset the pack. "Please Snuggles, not in front of the Dog Whisperer . . ."

‘Mam is always encouraging, never pushy’

Betty Hand and her daughter Martina are gearing up for this June's Flora Women's Mini-Marathon (www.florawomensminimarathon.com). Martina, who is the only girl in her family with three older brothers, has run in 15 mini-marathons while her mum Betty is a veteran with all 27 races under her belt. We caught up with the mum and daughter duo.

My stay in paradise

THURSDAY Flight EI480 to Lisbon is packed. We touch down in bright sunlight and are whisked north, another two hours to the university town of Coimbra to fish out turbot, sea bass and skate from our Cataplana-style fish soup in Restaurant Portuguesa.

Sarah Webb is a mum-of-three and a successful author (her two latest publications are The Loving Kind and children's book Emma the Penguin). Sarah is the eldest in a family of four children. We spoke to her and her mum Melissa about their mother-daughter relationship.
