Viva Forever: Spice Girls still best pals, says Emma

SHOWBIZ

Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton says "strong friendship" keeps her bandmates united, almost two decades after they burst on to the pop scene.

The 39-year-old, who topped the charts in July 1996 as one fifth of Britain's most successful girl band, said her love for Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham remains firm.

Four of the group made it to David Beckham's 40th birthday party in Morocco earlier this year, while Emma was also invited to Geri Halliwell's wedding to Formula 1 supremo Christian Horner in May.

Emma, who now works as a radio breakfast show host, said: "It's bizarre because sometimes it [topping the charts with the Spice Girls] feels like it was yesterday, and other times it feels like it was over 20 years ago.

"But us girls have still got such a strong friendship and we still love our music.

"The support of our fans is unbelievable, too. They've grown up with us, and we still get so many letters and messages. It still feels very special."

The north Londoner, who has two boys with long-term fiance Jade Jones from 90s boyband Damage, said she is considering increasing her brood.

"I think they're happy and we're happy as a little four-piece, but I wouldn't rule out a third. Who knows what the future holds?" she said.
