X Factor Caroline Flack: 'My niece borrowed my Strictly glitterball and still hasn't given it back'
TV presenter Caroline Flack has spoken of her upset at being axed from The Xtra Factor – and admitted losing her Strictly Come Dancing glitterball trophy.
The new X Factor and Love Island host (35), lifted the glitterball with dance partner Pasha Kovalev last year.
But she told Radio Times magazine: “I gave it to my niece to take into school for a show and tell, and she never gave it back. It’s probably still in her bedroom.”
Flack said that it was not the first time that she parted ways with the glitterball it also happened after the Strictly final.
“I went with my friends to a random house party in west London after the Strictly final – we stayed until 7am and got so drunk I left my glitterball there.
“The next day, I had to go and knock on this man’s door and say, ‘Hi – I think I left my glitterball in your house...’”
Flack and Matt Richardson were axed from the Xtra Factor last year after presenting the spin-off show for three years.
Now Flack will be presenting the main ITV show, replacing Dermot O’Leary, alongside Olly Murs.
She said of the moment she realised she had to step down from The Xtra Factor: “The producers took me for lunch, and told me they were screen-testing other people for my job, that they were changing the whole thing. They were really nice about it, but I knew I had to leave.
“I felt really upset, but every career has ups and downs. Then Strictly came along and it was like, ‘One door shuts, another one opens’,” she said.
