'Nobody knows who I am here but I get recognised in England all the time' reveals Sky News presenter Tadhg Enright
SKY News presenter Tadhg Enright finds he is recognised more often in the UK than for his RTE show, but he finds the experience a bit uncomfortable.
The presenter is now working on the Consumer Show with Keelin Shanley on RTE, but finds it awkward being recognised.
"The last couple of months I've noticed it happening more in the UK - I don't know what's tipped the balance," he said.
"It's not something I relish - I find it quite awkward, to be honest. It's easy to forget that what you do is actually watched.
"They always say you should imagine you are talking to an actual person, but I tend not to. I tend to only think that my bosses are watching to see if I slip up."
The Castleknock native said he has the best of both worlds working in both London and Dublin.
"It means I get to spend time with my family here - they get to do a bit of intensive parenting when I let them," he joked.
Tadhg is also hosting a weekday morning show on Monacle24 radio that covers a mixed bag of topics from world affairs to culture.
"I get to spread a bit and fly on those kinds of topics. It's a really fun place to work," he said. "It's all about high-flying lifestyles to which we all aspire but very few of us actually attain."
Tadhg said the Consumer Show lets him dig deeper into stories than his role at Sky.
"People are always comparing tabloid and broadsheet journalism as one is good and the other bad," he said.
"The way I see it, if it takes a mild dose of sensationalism to get people interested in issues that might seem dry but really impact our lives, then it's worth it."
