Mum's the word as Lucy hosts parenting show
LUCY KENNEDY is set to reinvent herself yet again after being dropped from RTE's 2fm.
The 36-year-old presenter took time out from her broadcasting career to have her second baby, Holly, with hubby Richie Governey. The pair welcomed the little girl last April.
The mum-of-two was unsure about her future after her weekend radio show with pal Baz Ashmawy was axed in June but now it's back to business for the Dublin brunette.
The Herald has learned she has landed a new television show about parenting which will hit the small screens on RTE 2 on February 4.
She started work on the programme a month ago.
"Filming went really well and it's due to go out at the start of February. It basically covers all aspects of parenting and Lucy's very excited about it as it's the kind of things that's just up her street," said a source.
"She was the perfect person for the job as she's a parent of two young children herself so knows how difficult it can be sometimes."
The former Livin' With Lucy star has been keeping a low profile since becoming a second-time mum.
Huge speculation hung over her next move after she was linked with a number of new projects for 2013.
She revealed last August that she was considering doing either a reality or a parenting programme, with RTE eventually deciding to commission the latter.
Lucy has also been busy getting back to her pre-pregnancy shape as she worked hard to lose the extra pounds.
She enlisted the services of the Hospital Group after signing up to their 'made to measure' HCG diet, which helped her drop nearly a stone in a month.
And she said there's extra pressure on well-known Irish women to get their shape back shortly after becoming mums.
"While having a baby is the most amazing thing in the world, when you're out at events and on the telly, you do feel a little bit uncomfortable," she said.
"I was on the red carpet at Colin Farrell's movie premiere, very casually trying to adjust my Spanx -- whereas now I don't have to wear them.
"It's so nice just to be able to wear nice clothes and feel like me again."
Lucy, who has been married to Richie Governey for the past four years, gave birth to her first baby Jack (3) in November 2009.
