Love/Hate - I was disguised as one of the crew when we filmed the assassination of Lizzie
The actress who played Lizzie in the hit RTE crime drama Love/Hate has said that she wasn't shocked her character was killed off in last night's explosive season opener.
Caoilfhionn Dunne played the strong female role in Stuart Carolan's hit crime drama from the third series and assassin, Lizzie, is infamous for killing Darren, played by Robert Sheehan.
Lizzie met her own demise in last night's episode when she is murdered by Glen, played by Leroy Harris, who shoots her at point blank range in the face in a flat she's staying in.
"I was kind of prepared for it before hand. I had been given a heads up so it wasn't a shock," said Caoilfhionn.
"It didn't really hit me until we had finished filming the scenes and I was saying my goodbyes to the crew.
"That was strange. This show has been such a big part of my life for the last three years and these people have become like family to me so it was difficult but at the same time I would never want Lizzie to outstay her welcome.
"I don't want to play a character that has served her purpose and is hanging around with no direction," the actor said.
Caoilfhionn said the filming of her death scene was "very secretive".
"I was disguised as a member of crew in order to get me to the location.
"The scene itself was a bit hectic. We didn't have a lot of time and in order to get the effects just right, it was tricky.
"But the effects guys on the show are great. We nailed it. Well I suppose we had to. We only had one go at it," she said.
