Simon Cowell had called them an "unstoppable machine" but John and Edward were deadwood last night after being finally voted off ‘The X Factor’.

The hyper-quiffed identical pop twins, known as Jedward, came up against Olly Murs in the sing-off.

The Irish twins’ rendition of Boyzone’s ‘No MatterWhat’ was unusually subdued with nodance routine and no tricks.

And in the end, Olly – one of the show’s favourites – and his rendition of Eric Clapton’s ‘WonderfulTonight’, was too good for the brothers.

Cowell told the twins as he voted them off: “I’m actually going to miss you, I am.”

Jedward fans are pictured right responding to the news at the Lord Lucan pub in Lucan, in west Dublin last night.
