Celebrity chef Catherine Fulvio has revealed she won't be writing another cookbook because she's too busy with broadcasting.

The glamorous foodie, star of RTE's historical cookery show Lords and Ladles with fellow TV chefs Derry Clarke (inset) and Paul Flynn, said she has put writing her sixth book on the back burner while she focuses on other projects, including the series and her Ballyknocken Cookery School in Wicklow.

"This year I've decided to take some time off from the cookbook side of things. I'm going to spend more time developing recipes and I wanted to give Lords and Ladles the time it needed," she explained.

"That and the cookery school here in Ballyknocken are a priority for me."

Lords and Ladles follows Catherine, Derry and Paul as they visit historical landmarks around the country and cook up medieval fare - a task she found "challenging".

"It's very different from anything I've done before and what I think makes it so interesting," she said.

"The dishes we had to cook were quite challenging too, like the calves' feet mince pies. They're not the kind of thing you're going to make on a regular basis.

thrilled

"The idea for the show came up almost two years ago now, so we're thrilled it made it to TV and I hope there'll be many more of them."

Now the mother of two is ready to escape to the sun next week, when she will jet to her husband Claudio's home country.

However, the Italian visit won't be just a holiday.

"I'm heading to Sicily with the family to do more research for future work and recipes," she told the RTE Guide.

"We'll meet up with my relatives and try and learn some new things."
