PRESENTER Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh is a familiar face on our TV screens, but she has revealed that she's still hoping to nab more acting roles.

It's been two years since she appeared in TG4 drama Crisis, but she told the Diary that she hasn't shelved her acting ambitions yet.

"I still find myself looking at parts, being envious of certain roles. It's still there, I haven't put it aside or thrown it away as an idea," she said.

With a long career in broadcasting under her belt, some might think it's easy for the RTE veteran to walk into acting jobs, but she thinks that the opposite is true.

"It's very hard, I'm guessing, for people in the film and drama industry to imagine 'Blathnaid from the telly' doing anything else," the 43-year-old said.

"It takes a lot of convincing, so that's what I have to do - work harder on the convincing to get readings."

Acting is a tough industry to break into, but the mum of four is up to it.

"If I had no challenge I'd be bored," she said.
