I was killed off new show in a week, reveals Victoria Smurfit
Irish actress Victoria Smurfit has revealed that she only found out her character was being killed off in US TV hit Once Upon a Time a week before she filmed the episode.
The Dubliner played Cruella de Vil in the popular fantasy series and said actors "don't get a lot of notice" when it comes to filming TV shows.
"I only found out a week before that they decided to make Cruella unrepentantly evil and kill her off," Victoria said.
"So I only had a few days to say, 'please don't kill me'.
"When I first turned up for filming, I'd packed for a weekend when a guy from the transport department told me I'd be there for five months!
"I was like 'I have three kids', but you just have to figure it out," she added.
Other Irish stars on the ABC series include Sarah Bolger, who plays Princess Aurora, and Colin O'Donoghue, who stars as Captain Hook.
Victoria said she made a beeline for them when she started on the show.
"No one understands what you're saying, it's all 'wouldn't you love to go back and do Love/Hate?' and giving each other shopping lists for when you go home," she laughed.
"It was all about bonding over teabags and Tayto."
While her time on the fantasy series has come to an end, Victoria has a new film out this week. The 41-year-old is starring in a horror movie called Bait.
Victoria was speaking at the Dublin Comic Con, which took place at the RDS over the weekend.
She spent time chatting with Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham, while enjoying the array of colourful characters on show.
