'I made it all up as I went along,' admits Terry Wogan
He has a broadcasting career spanning five decades, now Terry Wogan has revealed the secret to his success - making things up as he went along.
The retired BBC presenter said he was better at his job when he went on air unprepared. "I learned early on, hundreds of years ago, I work best when I'm making it up as I go along," he told Ryan Tubridy on RTE Radio One.
"For years in the early morning I would open up the microphone without a thought in my head and just say the first thing that came to it.
"I think you need a bit of confidence and experience to do that, but if you can't do that, perhaps you shouldn't be doing it."
