JUNGLE TWITTER: Katie Price told fans she tried her best
Monday November 23 2009
GLAMOUR model Katie Price has sensationally quit I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here after a number of gruesome tasks made her "want to die".
The newly divorced mum-of-three, known to many as Jordan, decided she had enough after viewers voted for her to face her seventh 'Bushtucker Trial'.
This trial would have seen Price, who split from singer husband Peter Andre earlier this year, being dipped into a pit of pythons while trying to retrieve stars for her fellow campers.
During last night's live programme, Price insisted she wasn't going to do the trial. Fellow camper, heavyweight boxer Joe Bugner, was also voted for the gruesome task.
Last night's programme on TV3 saw highlights of Price performing another trial which saw her eat fried flies and bug burgers.
The outspoken model was forced to drive around an obstacle course, making various pit stops along the way, which included eating stomach-turning insects and clawing her way through thick cobwebs, to earn stars for the other campers.
Afterwards, she broke down saying she couldn't handle it any more.
On her return to camp, she told the celebrities: "I am just not doing anymore. I am not doing anymore. I have said to them I am not doing it."
But it appears her pleas fell on deaf ears, as the British public voted for her to do a seventh trial.
And when she learned that she was elected to be dipped into a pit of pythons tonight, she walked out for good.
A message on the show's website says: "Katie Price has left the jungle."
The model took to her Twitter account this morning, thanking her fans for their encouragement during her stint on the show.
"Hey thank you for all your support!! I tried my best xxxxxxxxxxxxx."
Jordan was based in the "luxury" part of the camp, which meant she was immune to being booted off, but she still pleaded with viewers not to elect her to do any more challenges.
"Please don't vote for me tomorrow, please I've had enough. Everyone else, give them something to do.
"You've seen me struggle, you've seen me cry, shake, want to die.
"I really don't want to be doing this," she said.
She went on to say that she didn't understand the public's opinion of her.
"Either they love me or they hate me. No idea.
"I've always got lovers and haters but my family and friends, they probably love it because they get to see more of me but I'm telling them now, I'm not loving it.
"I'm gutted I'm not in exile. I'd love to be in the last three to get voted out. It's mad, I've done my due course, get me out of here," she revealed.
Although she reportedly went through lengthy talks with producers trying to convince her to stay, she still left and will potentially lose her appearance fee for the show, worth nearly €390,000.
During her on screen rant about the "mentally torturing" tasks, she said: "Look, if I walk out, then I don't need the money. Others in there do. I don't. I've got money. I have just done a big book tour. This isn't about the money anyway."
