Horsing about: Apprentice judge's big win

BUSINESS: Brian Purcell reveals why Joanna got the boot
Monday November 03 2008
Apprentice judge Brian Purcell has added an unlikely string to his bow outside of the business world.
Purcell yesterday won his first ever show-jumping Grand Prix in Ashbourne.
A delighted Brian told the Herald: "While people have been trying to score points in the boardroom with Bill, I've been scoring my own outside the show."
The partner in Insight Communications turned to horse-riding after "wrecking" his knee playing rugby and has enlisted the help of Cian O'Connor for "inspiration". And on his horse Richmondlea Oscar, he claimed what he described as "one of the best things you can win as an amateur".
Speaking ahead of tonight's much-anticipated episode of The Apprentice, Brian confirmed Joanna will get the boot. However, he hit out at claims by the contestant that she is evicted for sneaking out to see her young children.
"He [Bill] gets a piece of information during the task and all hell breaks out. It's about what happens within the task, not something outside," he said.
