FANS of the sizzling medical drama, Grey's Anatomy are in for a treat as a brand new spin-off from the series, Private Practice is about to hit Irish TV screens.

Kicking off on Tuesday next, the new slice of medical drama comes highly recommended from the US where it has been commissioned for a second series.

And like the original Seattle based series, Private Practice promises to keep audiences entertained with its own mix of drama, sex and comedy.

Leaving the rain-drenched surroundings of Seattle Grace Hospital behind, the new series follows fiery leading lady, Kate Walsh, as her character, Dr Addison Montgomery heads for new adventures on the west coast.

And according to the writer herself, Grey's Anatomy hit-maker Shonda Rhimes, the new medical drama is more than a chip off the old block: "The tone is brighter and there is a little bit more fun to be had."

Private Practice starts its run on RTE2 on Tuesday next at 9pm, with a special catch-up programme on beforehand at 8.05pm.
