Fair City star Tony Tormey: 'An old lady told me she was glad I wasn't Paul from Fair City as he's ugly'
Fair City actor Tony Tormey has revealed how an encounter with an elderly lady in a chemist ended with him being called "ugly".
The embarrassing incident occurred while Tony (inset below), who plays Paul Brennan in the soap, was in the store picking up a prescription for his son.
"This little old woman came in and she kept on looking at me while I was waiting for the prescription," Tony said.
"She pulled my arm and said: 'Did anyone ever tell you you look like Paul from Fair City?' I said: 'No, no they haven't'," he told TV Now magazine.
The conversation went on with the elderly woman continuing to press him to see if he was in fact Paul.
However, the actor continued to deny his role in the soap, insisting the woman was mistaken.
Unfortunately, Tony was left red-faced when the conversation concluded.
"So I got my prescription and I'm legging it out the door and she came up to me and said 'Can I say something to you? I'm glad you're not Paul out of Fair City'.
"I said 'Why is that?' and she goes: Cos he's an awful ugly looking s**t," she said.
