Dubliner Lucy sails through to final of Voice UK
DUBLINER Lucy O'Byrne is through to the final of The Voice UK, even though she started singing opera only four years ago.
Lucy (24) will arrive home today to catch up with her fans ahead of Saturday's grand finale.
Her teacher, Kathryn Smith, who first began training the Baldoyle singer in 2011, said she feels very lucky to have had her as a student.
"From the day I met her she has been very serious about her training," she said.
"No matter what you would throw at her she would take it. When she took on the classical singing she wanted to try another level and we discovered she had a great capacity to sing opera.
"She has a passion for the big songs and for taking on the drama of the opera."
Lucy has sailed through the competition with Will.i.am as a mentor.
Her parents Jimmy and Carol and nana Rose watched on from the audience as she secured her place in the final.
