Dublin model Nicola Hughes causes quite a stir on her Made in Chelsea debut
Nicola Hughes caused a stir last night as she made her debut on Made In Chelsea, and the Dublin model has revealed things are just as tense behind the scenes as they appear on screen.
The blonde beauty (25) appeared on the popular E4 show last night alongside boyfriend Alex Mytton, who previously dated fellow cast member Binky Feltstead.
The Sandyford native admitted that things have heated up since she joined the cast, even when the cameras aren't rolling.
"There has definitely been a lot of tension and bitchiness going on," Nicola said. "No one is really happy.
"There are quite a few new girls who are in Alex's circle of friends that I knew beforehand so I do have some back-up."
Despite her Chelsea beau's love rat reputation on the show, Nicola has assured Alex has been a "gent" since they started dating last August and that he's a big hit with her family.
The Londoner has visited Ireland many times since the couple got together six months ago and even spent the Easter holidays with Nicola and her family in Dublin.
"My friends were like 'You need to watch Made In Chelsea' and I refused to watch it because I didn't want to judge Alex on what he was being portrayed as," she said.
"I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but it's going well and he's been an absolute gent.
"He's been nothing but respectful so I haven't had any doubts so far, so fingers crossed.
"My dad loves him because my dad's English and Alex is English. He thinks he's a gent and they are quite similar in ways."
Nicola moved to live with the DJ in his London home just months after meeting him at an event in Naas.
"I was meant to go home that night but he twisted my arm and I spent three days with him," she revealed. "He claims he didn't approach me but he chased me around the club all night.
"I met his parents and he met mine in the first month," Nicola added.
"It's the fastest relationship I've ever been in. It shows something if things progress that quickly."
While she's enjoying life in the English capital, when asked if she can see herself living there on a long term basis, Nicola is unsure.
She told TV Now, "I'd give it a shot, but I'd miss home constantly. I don't know if I'd settle in London but it's always an option," she said.
