DJ Louise McSharry 'so happy' back at 2fm after her cancer fight
DJ Louise McSharry has returned to the airwaves after her battle with cancer.
The 2fm presenter (31) has been absent from her evening slot on the station since being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma last August
After taking a sabbatical to focus on her health, the now cancer-free broadcaster returned to work on Sunday, taking over from The Voice of Ireland presenter Eoghan McDermott.
As she introduced her show for the first time in months, Louise was clearly excited to be back.
"I'm so, so happy to be here," she said.
"I feel really good and I'm really happy to be here. I'm talking so fast because I'm on a mad adrenaline buzz."
Last month Louise shared the exciting news on Twitter that she had been given the all-clear from her illness and thanked the hospital staff for their help in her recovery.
"So #DaffodilDay seems like the perfect day to tell you that I got the results of my scan, and I don't have cancer any more!" she tweeted.
"It turns out modern medicine is very effective. Also, the incredible staff of Vincent's Ward in the Mater are unstoppable.
"Thinking a lot about people still dealing with cancer or who have just been diagnosed. I won't ever stop I don't think, as I have been so lucky.
"You are all incredibly kind and I really, really appreciate all the warmth you've shown today and throughout."
Louise, who's planning her wedding with long-term love Gordon Spierin, revealed earlier this year that she was finding shopping for a dress very stressful.
"We're having it down in Cork and I'm starting to feel like I have a picture of what I want - a lot of gold glitter," she told the Herald.
"The dress trying-on was quite stressful - all the dresses only have each style in one size so you're never trying something on that fits you."
