Celeb chef Donal Skeehan has pressed reset on his hectic lifestyle after he was hospitalised for exhaustion and is looking forward to settling in to married life.

The 29-year-old Dubliner was forced to take time out last year he told the Herald.

"This book came out of a time when I had reached exhaustion," he said. "I was in Vietnam last year and I had to go to hospital and I had just reached exhaustion. Then I came home and did a 20-day tour, so it was just crazy."

Schedule

Donal admits that he was finding it tough to enjoy his work with such a hectic schedule.

"I was at a stage where I wasn't enjoying the food or getting to cook," he said.

Now that the book, Fresh, has hit the shelves he and Sofie will be able to spend some downtime together, after their wedding last June.

"To be honest we haven't had as much time out, I don't know if we had the honeymoon period or the chance to just settle down but we will now," he said.

Donal and his other half have worked alongside each other on several projects and his latest book is no different.

"She shot the cover and a few of the profile shots. It's hard to take photos of myself, unless I want to put selfies in my cookbook," he said.

Healthy eating cookbooks are popular now and the chef admits to tapping into that trend.

"It's all about delicious recipes that are easy to do," he said.
