AMANDA Byram will host the television awards ceremony of the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) later this month.

IFTA's film and drama awards were already held in May this year.

The decision to hold the TV awards at a later date and break the once annual event into two occasions arose following the 2014 ceremony, hosted by Laura Whitmore and Simon Delaney.

Speaking of the ceremony, Amanda (inset) said: "I am so honoured to be hosting the IFTA Gala TV Awards.

"I believe that supporting Irish talent and the industry is of the utmost importance."
